As a homeschool family, sometimes we hit bumps in the road with various math functions. Chris McMullen has helped us over each and everyone of those bumps. His ability to clarify a concept is truly a gift. The fractions book has been our most favorite of all. Great detail and guidance, not just with fractions, but also decimals and the dreaded story problems! Thanks, Chris for helping us on the journey.

Good workbook. If you are an American parent or parent that truly plays an active role in your child’s education, purchase this book. Students need to have a sound foundation in mathematics to do hire mathematics. American public schools teach to tests and do not truly educate. American school teachers have to address too many behavioral problems and spend too much time with students that lack fundamentals in math and other subjects. Common Core education contributes to confusion in classrooms. Do not rely on teachers to properly teach your child. As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher.

This book is good but not for younger grades. I teach grade 4 and 95 percent of this is way over that grade level.

This is great for 5th and 6th through high school math.

I really enjoyed this book. I bought three and did the entire book with my children. There was so much I had forgotten! It was fun to laugh with them and get stomped from time to time. Chapter 11 was way too long. I think it should have been broken up into maybe three chapters. But overall, well written with great examples and practice. I suggest getting another workbook for review if this is your main text book. Otherwise it’s just perfect.

Homeschooling has led me to numerous workbooks, programs, even teacher created fractions lessons, but this book made understanding fractions easier than anything I’ve tried so far! I was thrilled to see Chris McMullen has books on a number of other math and science subjects and I will definitely be purchasing more books from him! Totally recommend this book!

How confident are you in your fractions? I learned fractions in elementary school but as an adult going through higher education I wasn’t CONFIDENT on my fractions. This book is great to set a confident foundation to set you up for fractional success.

This is a good practice book for fractions. My 3rd grader is a little ahead in math and wanted to do more fractions at home and he had fun with this book.

My math skills aren’t great. But I would love to improve them. I find that I need to use fractions when modifying recipes and even when I was trying to figure the equivalent usa hardware for metric. Calculators aren’t helpful if you don’t understand the basic operations of math.
So I bought this and it’s a great book. I’m 65, long time since I had any math classes. This work book explains step by step everything you need to know to work with fractions. It’s consise and easy to understand. Each step has a quiz (with answers in the back) so you know if you really understand it. I can go at my own pace and I look forward to each new chapter. I highly recommend it for any age to become proficient with fractions.

  43. (51)

Please note that this math book is aimed at a mature audience. There aren’t any cute cartoons or anecdotes to be found here. What you get are clear and thorough explanations of the subject matter (in this case, fractions) accompanied by a good amount of practice problems.
A very nice and unusual feature of this book is that most of the answers provided to the exercises are broken down in the answer key, so you’re not left hanging if you get a question wrong.
The author even provides you with contact information should you believe you find an error in the text – that’s a first. 🙂
So for older kids or adults who are looking for a good review of working with fractions without distractions, this is a great resource! 🙂

Fractions were my pet hate in maths but after needing to learn fractions to pass an exam I wanted to find a book that exsplains them well. This was perfect. It was written in a very simple way of understanding and I love how it reminds you throughout the book, sections you’ve learnt and it prompts you where to find it incase you might of forgotten.

I’m going back to a technical school. I currently have a BA in Communication Arts. I’m 45 years old and this is probably the best book l’ve ever read. It’s simple and easy to understand. I’m not that good at math but this was a great help in preparing and familiarizing myself. With practice I can say I’m good at math now.

My daughter who is in the 4th grade was struggling with fractions no matter how many times I’ve explained and showed her examples. So I decided to get her this book that has explanations and examples. By the time she finished this book she finally understood and now able to do fractions with no issues. Strongly recommend it for homeschooling.
